Suwon Nammun Market (수원 남문시장)
Suwon Nammun Market, the largest traditional market complex in Gyeonggi-do, refers collectively to a group of nine interconnected markets. These include Jidong Market, Paldalmun Market, Minari Square Market, Motgol Market, Yeongdong Market, Citizen Sangga Market, Nammun Fashion Street Market, Gucheon-dong Gongu (Tool) Market, and Nammun Rodeo Market.
Its origins date back to the reign of King Jeongjo, when a permanent market was established along Jongno Street near the bell tower inside Hwaseong Fortress. At the same time, a five-day market was held outside Paldalmun Gate. Together, these early marketplaces are considered the foundation of present-day Suwon Nammun Market.
